Mitch Trubisky Expected To Start Against Panthers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to start quarterback Mitch Trubisky against the Carolina Panthers in Week 15 on Sunday, according to sources. Head coach Mike Tomlin is going back to the signal-caller who has served as their backup all season with rookie Kenny Pickett doubtful to play because he's still in the league's concussion protocol. Trubisky and third-stringer Mason Rudolph split first-team repetitions in practice this week, leading to some speculation that the Steelers might go with Rudolph this weekend. We could still see Rudolph in this game if Trubisky struggles early. The 28-year-old went 22-for-30 for 276 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in relief of Pickett in last week's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He'll likely be on a short leash against Carolina, making him nothing more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues.

Mitch Trubisky Replaces Kenny Pickett Sunday

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett exited Sunday's game versus the Baltimore Ravens and was taken to the locker room for medical attention. Mitch Trubisky entered the game in his place. It's an interesting development out of Pittsburgh considering Pickett was evaluated for a concussion but cleared protocol and quickly returned to the game. Moments later, he exited for a second time. It remains to be seen if he will return. So far, he has gone 0-for-1 passing with 16 rushing yards and one sack.

Mitch Trubisky Expected To Start In Week 7

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky is expected to start in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins with rookie first-rounder Kenny Pickett in the concussion protocol. With the new NFL concussion protocols, it basically takes a week for a player to clear the protocol now, and it doesn't include a lot of practice. Steelers.com's Dale Lolley wouldn't be surprised if Mason Rudolph is the backup to Trubisky next Sunday night. Trubisky went 9-for-12 for 144 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in relief of the injured Pickett. Fantasy managers that have been using Pickett in two-QB superflex leagues of late will need to look elsewhere in Week 7. Trubisky, meanwhile, will be a low-end QB2 streamer if he's back in a starting role.

Kenny Pickett Replaces Mitch Trubisky In Week 4

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett entered Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Mitchell Trubisky has been benched after completing just seven of 13 passes for 84 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. He was also sacked three times. The Steelers used a first-round pick on Pickett and view him as their franchise quarterback, so it makes sense that they are getting him involved in the wake of Trubisky's struggles.

Mitch Trubisky Named The Starter, Kenny Pickett The Backup

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin officially named Mitch Trubisky the team's starting quarterback on Tuesday ahead of Sunday's Week 1 contest against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals. In other Steelers QB news on Tuesday, the team's updated depth chart now shows rookie first-rounder Kenny Pickett as the backup ahead of third-stringer Mason Rudolph. Trubisky was expected to be the team's starter entering the regular season all along, but he won't necessarily have a long leash early on if he struggles. The 28-year-old will be nothing more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues in his first year in Pittsburgh, while Pickett is an extremely attractive commodity in dynasty/keeper leagues.

Mitch Trubisky Listed As Starting Quarterback

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky is listed as the starting quarterback on the team's current depth chart, although he still hasn't officially been named the starter by head coach Mike Tomlin. Mason Rudolph is listed as the backup, with first-round rookie Kenny Pickett as the third-stringer. Trubisky was also named a team captain in his first year in Pittsburgh, a clear signal that he'll start in Week 1 against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals, as expected. It's possible the 28-year-old is officially named the starter on Tuesday. Trubisky will have a short leash as the starter for the Steelers in 2022, and he'll merely be a low-end QB2 option for fantasy managers in superflex leagues in Week 1.

Mitch Trubisky Will Start Sunday’s Contest

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky will start under center for Sunday's preseason finale against the Lions, head coach Mike Tomlin announced Friday. Despite the significant competition that Trubisky has received from Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph, the veteran will have started all three preseason games for the Steelers, a potential indication of where the team is leaning for Week 1 of the regular season vs. the Bengals. Trubisky has not started a game that counts toward the standings since Week 16 of the 2020 year when he was wrapping up his four-year run as the Bears' starter. With ample playmaking options surrounding him on offense, the 28-year-old could have some DFS appeal come Week 1 if he is indeed under center.
