Dante Pettis Returns To Practice Wednesday

Chicago Bears wide receiver Dante Pettis (head) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. He was forced out of last Sunday's loss against the Lions with blurred vision and was evaluated for a concussion. The 27-year-old cleared protocols and avoided a concussion. Pettis failed to catch his lone target before exiting in Week 17. After logging a full practice Wednesday, he is trending in the right direction towards suiting up for Week 18 versus the Vikings. Bears quarterback Justin Fields (hip) was ruled out for Week 18, and Nathan Peterman will draw the start against Minnesota. Pettis has caught two passes per game once in the last seven weeks and remains off the fantasy radar, especially with Peterman under center for Week 18.

Dante Pettis Does Not Return In Week 17

Chicago Bears wide receiver Dante Pettis (head) didn't return to Sunday's trouncing by the Lions. The veteran entered this one with an injury designation because of an ankle issue. However, he was forced to exit for a concussion evaluation. Although everything checked out, Pettis was taken to the hospital as a precaution. He would finish without catching his only target. With the Bears season unofficially over, it's possible Pettis won't be back on the field for the rest of the 2022-23 campaign.

Chase Claypool, Dante Pettis Active On Sunday

Chicago Bears wide receivers Chase Claypool (knee) and Dante Pettis (ankle) are both officially active on New Year's Day to face the Detroit Lions in Week 17. Claypool will be on the field for the first time since Week 13, and it remains to be seen if he'll see his normal workload on offense. During the team's bye in Week 13, the Bears coaching staff admitted that Claypool was still learning the offense after a midseason trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers. In his five games with the team, he has only 12 receptions on 22 targets for 111 yards and no touchdowns. The Bears want Claypool to become a big part of the passing attack, but that may not happen until 2023. Trusting any Chicago receivers with a fantasy championship on the line is a fool's errand, even against a suspect Lions defense.

    Dante Pettis Given Questionable Tag

Chicago Bears wide receiver Dante Pettis (ankle) is listed as questionable to play on Sunday in Week 17 against the division-rival Detroit Lions. Pettis injured his ankle early in the week but was able to return to practice on Friday, giving him a chance to suit up this weekend. With Chase Claypool (knee) also questionable to return from his knee injury, the Bears offense could be severely thin at the position yet again, although they will be getting Equanimeous St. Brown back from a concussion. Even if Pettis is able to play on Sunday, fantasy managers can't realistically consider him for their starting lineups with championships on the line, as he has only 17 receptions (34 targets) for 226 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games in 2022.

Dante Pettis Listed As Limited Wednesday

Chicago Bears wide receiver Dante Pettis (ankle) was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday. With fellow wideouts Chase Claypool (knee) and Equanimeous St. Brown (concussion) out in the Week 16 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Pettis caught two of his five targets for 11 yards and his third touchdown of the season. Claypool and St. Brown failed to practice on Wednesday and could miss another game, which would give Pettis another shot at an elevated role in a great matchup against the Detroit Lions this weekend. Still, even in that scenario, it's hard to rely on Pettis, let alone any other Chicago pass-catcher to close out the 2022 season. Pettis has only two games with over 18 yards receiving this year, and both of them came in the first six contests.

Chase Claypool Limited, Dante Pettis Out Sick

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) was a limited practice participant on Wednesday, while Dante Pettis (illness) was given a DNP. Claypool should be good to go for the Week 13 game against the Green Bay Packers, but he has just seven catches on 16 targets for 83 scoreless yards in four games since being acquired in a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both Claypool and Pettis should see more opportunities the rest of the season with Darnell Mooney (ankle) out for the year, but there still won't be a ton of fantasy upside here, especially if quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) misses a second straight game this weekend. Pettis could be the primary beneficiary of Mooney's injury, but he has only 13 receptions (23 targets) for 188 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games in 2022.
