Panthers Sign Eddy Pineiro
The Carolina Panthers are signing free-agent kicker Eddy Pineiro to a one-year deal on Wednesday. The Panthers recently placed their starting kicker Zane Gonzalez on season-ending Injured Reserve, creating a need at the position. The Florida product remained unsigned during the 2020 season before joining the Jets for five games last year. The 26-year-old made all eight field goals he attempted and missed only one extra point in 10 attempts. The Panthers have a Vegas projected win total of 6.5 games, making Pineiro a kicker to avoid in your fantasy drafts.

The New York Jets have decided to release kicker Eddy Pineiro on Tuesday. He was battling with Greg Zuerlein for the starting kicker gig. Pineiro did fine with the Jets last year as he only missed one field goal attempt in five games. However, it sounds like he struggled during training camp, so the Jets decided to go with the veteran kicker. Possibly, Pineiro lands elsewhere, but his fantasy value could be dependent on where he goes. To be honest, any kicker on the Jets isn't going to be a favorable fantasy option. This offense struggled to move the ball last season, but Zuerlein does have a strong leg. Possibly, he can carve out some fantasy value in New York, but there should be better kicker options available.
