Drew Lock To "Play A Lot" Against Cowboys

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock (illness) returned to practice on Sunday after a bout with COVID-19. He was on tap to start in Thursday's preseason contest versus the Chicago Bears, although that didn't happen. However, head coach Pete Carroll recently revealed the former Bronco will "play a lot" during the exhibition against Dallas on Friday night, the team's third and final preseason game. Nevertheless, Lock is battling Geno Smith for the top spot on the depth chart, so this may be his last chance to prove he deserves the job.

    Drew Lock Returns To Practice

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock (illness) entered health and safety protocols on Tuesday after contracting COVID-19. This caused him to miss Thursday's preseason game against the Bears, which he was initially scheduled to start. The 25-year-old was reported as feeling "really sick" on Friday, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Fortunately, he returned to practice on Sunday. The former Bronco figures to get the nod against the Cowboys as long as his health permits him to play. Lock is battling teammate Geno Smith to lead this offense come Week 1, so any additional reps and game action would be beneficial. Nonetheless, even if he earns the starting job, he's still not a quarterback to target outside of Superflex and two-quarterback leagues. Still, even in those formats, he's a risky fantasy option.

    Drew Lock Was "Really Sick"

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock was "really sick" with COVID-19, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Lock can come out of the league's COVID protocols on Sunday, and the thought was that he would start in the team's final preseason game, but that might not happen if Lock isn't healthy enough to play. The plan from the beginning was to have the 25-year-old start against the Chicago Bears in the second preseason game on Thursday, but that had to be scrapped. Even if Lock is able to play in the final preseason game, it would be a surprise if Geno Smith isn't the starter under center in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. Lock has the stronger arm and could eventually overtake Smith during the regular season, but neither QB in Seattle will be very attractive in fantasy leagues in 2022.
