Chase Claypool Likely To Play In Week 17

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) is expected to suit up in Sunday's NFC North showdown with the Lions. He hasn't played since Week 13. However, considering how unproductive Claypool has been in his five games with the Bears, amassing 12 catches for 111 yards, he's not recommended for any fantasy lineup, even with the favorable matchup on tap.

Chase Claypool Questionable To Face Lions

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) is officially questionable to face the Detroit Lions in Week 17. Claypool hasn't played since Week 13 with the injury, so he could be in line to miss another game on Sunday. Even if Claypool does suit up against the putrid Lions' defense, he remains off the fantasy radar in traditional leagues. Since being traded to Chicago, he has totaled just 111 yards and zero touchdowns in five games. In ultra-deep leagues, he could be an interesting dart throw, but he has virtually no floor tied to a league-bottom passing attack.

Chase Claypool Gets In Limited Practice Session

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) is back on the field and was able to get through a limited practice session on Thursday. This is good news after Claypool has missed each of the last two games due to a knee issue. The 24-year-old has been dealing with a lingering knee injury. However, he was able to practice on Thursday, which means he's heading in the right direction. The Bears don't have many reliable options at wideout, so Claypool should see significant involvement. Despite that, he's not anything more than a deep league flex option for Week 17 against the Detroit Lions.

Chase Claypool Inactive For Week 16

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) is inactive for Saturday's game against the Buffalo Bills. He will miss his second consecutive game due to a knee issue. The 24-year-old has caught 12 passes for 111 yards since being acquired by the Bears mid-season. Claypool's next chance to return will be in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions. Byron Pringle, Dante Pettis, N'Keal Harry, and Velus Jones will be quarterback Justin Fields' top targets against the Bills.

Chase Claypool Doubtful To Play Against Bills

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) missed a second straight day of practice on Thursday and is listed as doubtful for Week 16 against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. Meanwhile, N'Keal Harry (back) was removed from the final injury report after practicing in full all week. Claypool missed the Week 15 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles coming off the bye week and is set to miss his second straight game this weekend. With Equanimeous St. Brown also being ruled out, the Bears will be extremely thin at wideout against a strong defense, which is bad news for quarterback Justin Fields. Bryon Pringle, Dante Pettis, rookie Velus Jones Jr. and Harry will all be fighting for more opportunities on Saturday, but they are all extremely hard to trust in fantasy.

Chase Claypool Ruled Out Versus Eagles

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) will not play against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15. In his absence, Equanimeous St. Brown, Dante Pettis, Byron Pringle, and Velus Jones are all candidates to see extra targets, but none should be viewed as legitimate streaming options against the fierce Eagles' secondary, who has allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. The Bears have arguably the group of wideouts in the NFL, and Justin Fields has not proven to be a prolific passer yet. Garbage time points could be in play here, but the matchup is too worrisome to consider any Bears' wideout in traditional 10 or 12-team leagues.

Chase Claypool Trending In The Wrong Direction

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) missed his second straight practice of the week on Thursday. Claypool is now in danger of missing the Week 15 game against the Philadelphia Eagles after coming off the team's bye in Week 14. He'll need to put in some practice time on Friday to avoid being ruled out entirely. The 24-year-old saw six targets before the bye and is expected to become a much bigger part of the offense to close out the season, but he'll need to be healthy for that to happen. On top of it, head coach Matt Eberflus has acknowledged that Claypool still hasn't mastered the playbook. He'll be a risky WR4/flex this Sunday if he's active. If he's out, Equanimeous St. Brown would likely operate as the top pass-catcher, with Dante Pettis, rookie Velus Jones Jr. and N'Keal Harry also seeing bigger roles.

    Chase Claypool Misses Practice Wednesday

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) was not on the practice field on Wednesday. It's a bit strange to see coming off the team's bye in Week 14. Claypool was briefly listed on the Week 13 injury report before playing against the Green Bay Packers and catching five of his six targets for only 28 yards. Head coach Matt Eberflus admitted that Claypool is still learning the offense after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers at the trade deadline in November. In his first five games with the Bears, Claypool has only 12 receptions on 22 targets for 111 yards and no touchdowns. Chicago will continue making a concerted effort to involve him in the offense more, especially without Darnell Mooney (ankle), but until that happens, the 24-year-old will be a shaky fantasy flex option.

Chase Claypool Cleared To Play Sunday

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool (knee) practiced in full on Thursday and Friday and was removed from the final Week 13 injury report. He will play on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Claypool has mostly been off the fantasy radar in his first four games with the Bears, although he did play 67 percent of the offensive snaps -- his most since joining the team -- and had 51 receiving yards on two catches in last week's loss to the New York Jets. And with Darnell Mooney (ankle) out for the season, Claypool's role in the offense should only continue to grow down the stretch. He's worth rostering in most single-year fantasy leagues, but he's nothing more than a WR4/flex with more upside this week with quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) returning after a one-game absence.

Chase Claypool Catches Two Passes In Bears Debut

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool caught two passes for 13 yards with four rushing yards in his Bears debut against the Dolphins in Week 9. Claypool has only been with the team a few days but was involved early and saw six targets in the game. He picked up a pass interference penalty in the first half on a deep pass and was robbed of another on the Bears final drive. Claypool's involvement should only increase in the coming weeks but his volume of plays will be incremental and may take a few weeks.

Bears Acquire Chase Claypool From The Steelers

The Chicago Bears acquired wide receiver Chase Claypool from the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday, according to a source. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers will receiver Chicago's original second-round pick in 2023. It's a hefty price to pay for Claypool, but the Bears were intent on giving developing second-year quarterback Justin Fields another weapon in the passing game. Claypool should immediately be a starter in Chicago alongside Darnell Mooney and Equanimeous St. Brown, and he'll be moving from the lowest-scoring offense in the league in Pittsburgh to a low-volume Bears passing attack that is averaging 19.4 points per game. In eight games with Pittsburgh this year, Claypool had 32 catches on 50 targets for 311 yards and a touchdown. His fantasy value shouldn't change all that much with the move, and it remains to be seen what kind of chemistry he'll have with Fields as he learns the offense.

Chase Claypool Unlikely To Be Dealt

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool is unlikely to be available at the trade deadline.. The organization attempted to move Claypool during the preseason, but couldn't find a suitor. Now, the Steelers might have a better chance at trading him with Claypool playing better as of late. Over the last two weeks, Claypool has 12 receptions for 146 yards and one touchdown. Possibly, the move to rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett has helped the 24-year-old wideout. The Steelers are still rebuilding their roster, so it seems they plan on keeping Claypool in the hopes that he's turned the page. They would likely listen to offers for Claypool, but it doesn't sound like they will move him unless the deal is right.
