Bears Plan To Stick With Justin Fields In 2023

The Chicago Bears are committed to quarterback Justin Fields as their starter for next season. When asked about the plans for Fields as the team's starter in 2023, general manager Ryan Poles said he has to be "absolutely blown away" to take a QB at No. 1 in this year's draft. While the Bears finished last in the NFL in 2022 with only three wins, Fields took a step forward in his second season with a 60.4% completion percentage, 2,242 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 15 games played. He also had 160 rushing attempts (second-most) for a league-high 1,143 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Chicago needs to get Fields some more help in the passing game and on the offensive line, but it would be a big surprise if they took at signal-caller to kick off the 2023 draft.

Justin Fields Won't Play In Week 18

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (hip) won't play in Week 18 against the Minnesota Vikings. The second-year quarterback has dealt with nagging injuries all season. Last week he suffered a strained hip against the Detroit Lions. While Fields finished the game, he clearly wasn't at 100%. With the Bears having nothing to play for in Week 18, it's no surprise that the star quarterback won't be on the field. Fantasy players with a championship matchup in Week 18 will need to find a replacement option for the second-year player on the waiver wire. However, Nathan Peterman is not an ideal replacement.

Bears Considering Sitting Justin Fields In Week 18?

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said the team is considering whether to play quarterback Justin Fields in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. "The health of the football team, the entire health of the team to me is ... where we were two weeks ago is different than where we are now. So I think it's important we evaluate that. We'll have conversations about everybody and what it's in the best interest of our team." Eberflus said two weeks ago that Fields would play in the final two weeks, but after taking a beating (season-high seven sacks), the Bears are rethinking their stance for their franchise signal-caller in a meaningless game for them. If Fields does play, he might just try to get 64 more rushing yards to break the single-season rushing record for a QB before they pull him. Either way, expect to see some of Nathan Peterman to close out the year.

Justin Fields Won't Be Shut Down

The Chicago Bears will not shut down quarterback Justin Fields (foot, shoulder) for the final two games of the regular season against the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, according to head coach Matt Eberflus. Fields hurt his previously injured non-throwing shoulder and had his foot stepped on in the Week 16 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, and he said after the game that he couldn't bear full weight on his injured foot but expected to be "good to go." Doctors previously told Fields his left shoulder would be a "nagging injury all year." The Bears were eliminated from the playoffs in Week 13 and are riding an eight-game losing streak, but Fields will be available to fantasy managers the rest of the way. "He's good to go," Eberflus said. "He's healthy, he's ready to go for this week."

Justin Fields Joins Elite Company In Loss

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields completed 14-of-21 passes for 152 yards, two touchdowns and 95 rushing yards in the team's 25-20 loss to the Eagles in Week 15. Fields was electric once again in moments, including a dazzling 39-yard run that almost turned into a touchdown. He also eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the season and becomes the third quarterback in NFL history to accomplish the feat to go along with Michael Vick and Lamar Jackson (twice). Fields would leave the game in the fourth quarter with leg cramps but would return on the next drive to hit wide receiver Byron Pringle for a 35-yard touchdown. Fields will carry QB1 value, as long as he is healthy, next week against the Bills

Justin Fields Returns In Week 15

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (right leg) has returned to the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was initially taken to the locker room but quickly came back to the sidelines and subsequently re-entered the contest. The mobile signal-caller will look to mount a late comeback in Week 15.

Justin Fields Off The Bears Injury Report

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields missed Wednesday's practice with an illness but practiced in full on Thursday and Friday and carries no injury designation into Week 15. Fields faces the Philadelphia Eagles, who are the toughest defense against fantasy quarterbacks to date. However, the Eagles have only faced one high-end rushing quarterback -- Kyler Murray, who totaled 292 yards against them. Fields will likely struggle to get to 200 yards passing, but his floor and ceiling are high thanks to his 100-plus yard rushing upside. There's also a chance this game gets out of hand early and Fields plays against the Eagles' backups for a significant period of time, so it's hard to bench him in any matchup moving forward.

    Justin Fields Misses Practice

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (illness) won't practice on Wednesday, according to head coach Matt Eberflus. The second-year quarterback is considered day-to-day. Eberflus added that he expects Fields will be able to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Assuming the star quarterback gets well and can return to practice later this week, Fields should be good to go. However, the matchup this week is a difficult one for Fields. The Eagles have held quarterbacks to only 11.9 fantasy points per game this season, the fewest in the NFL. Furthermore, they have surrendered only 21 rushing yards per game to quarterbacks. Fields is a risky start for fantasy players in the first round of their fantasy playoffs.

    Justin Fields Will Face Packers

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) is off the team's final injury report and will play against the Green Bay Packers in Week 13. In Fields' first matchup with Green Bay in Week 2, he posted just 90 total yards and one touchdown, but his upside has climbed to overall QB1 status, so he's a must-start when active. Fields has 834 rushing yards and 20 total touchdowns on the year as an elite dual-threat fantasy quarterback. He missed just one game due to the injury, so his fantasy managers should trust him and play him with confidence.

Justin Fields Practices In Full On Thursday

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) was able to get in a full practice session on Thursday. The 23-year-old appears to be trending in the right direction for the Week 13 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Last week, Fields sat out, which resulted in Trevor Siemian (oblique) drawing the start. The Bears will likely be forced to start Nathan Peterman against the Packers if Fields is unable to play. Fields will be a must-start QB1, assuming he plays on Sunday. Fantasy managers will have to check back for another update after Friday's practice session.

Justin Fields Officially Out For Week 12

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) has been ruled out for the Week 12 matchup against the New York Jets. This shouldn't come as a surprise considering the Bears have been preparing for this all week long. The Bears aren't going to let Fields play through this shoulder injury and make it worse. Trevor Siemian will make the start under center in Week 12. He'll have Nathan Peterman as the emergency backup on Sunday. Fantasy managers should expect a run-heavy offense from the Bears on Sunday. The absence of Fields is not good news for the fantasy value of Darnell Mooney. Siemian is unlikely to have success against this tough defense, so he's not a recommended fantasy option.

Justin Fields A "Long Shot" To Play Against Jets

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) is considered a "long shot" to play against the Jets. However, he will go through pregame warmups before a final decision is made. After a dreadful start to the 2022-23 campaign, Fields has emerged to become one of the best fantasy quarterbacks going. Unfortunately, with the Bears unlikely to make the playoffs, there's a chance the signal-caller won't be back this season to avoid further damage. In any event, Trevor Siemian is expected to be under center in Week 12. Yet, fantasy managers shouldn't expect much out of him versus a potent Jets defense.

Bears Could Hold Justin Fields Out To Avoid Long-Term Damage

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) remains questionable for Sunday's meeting with the Jets. The signal-caller has a separated shoulder but is willing to play through pain moving ahead. However, with Chicago unlikely to make the postseason, the team could keep him out if it means avoiding "long-term damage," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The 23-year-old has been a potent fantasy option after a horrendous beginning to the 2022-23 campaign. That said, fantasy managers should consider rostering another quarterback just in case. Yet, Trevor Siemian, who would start if Fields can't go, isn't the answer versus a formidable Jets defense.

Justin Fields Questionable To Face Jets

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) is officially questionable for the Week 12 matchup with the New York Jets. Head coach Matt Eberflus said the team is hoping to take the decision to play Fields up until game time on Sunday. Fields is the overall QB4 on the season after a sluggish start and has been arguably the most explosive breakout player in all of fantasy football. That said, fantasy managers will surely be hurting if he's ruled out. The New York Jets have been a top-10 unit against fantasy quarterbacks this season, but Fields is very much in the must-start category with his rushing upside. The good news is no quarterbacks are on a bye week so it shouldn't be too difficult to find a streamer, but losing Fields' ceiling will be disappointing. If he's out, Trevor Siemian will start for Chicago. He'd only be viable in superflex or two-QB leagues.

Justin Fields Puts In Another Limited Practice

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) was limited in practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Fields is dealing with a separated shoulder and partially torn ligaments in his left, non-throwing shoulder. It's good news that it's not his throwing arm, but the 23-year-old dual-threat signal-caller feels pain every time he throws and there is some concern that the Bears might play it safe and hold their franchise QB out as a precaution. Fields has become a must-start QB1 in fantasy in his second NFL season, but he'll be a bit more risky if he plays this Sunday against a tough New York Jets defense. If he's inactive on Sunday, backup Trevor Siemian would get the start and would merely be a desperation low-end QB2 in superflex formats.

Justin Fields Unlikely To Play In Week 12?

The Athletic's Jon Greenberg writes that it seems unlikely that the Chicago Bears would let quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) play with his injury, particularly given the context (the Bears are 3-8) and the style of Fields' play. "I just feel like if I can play and that I'm not furthering the risk of injury and I can do what I need to do to be able to protect myself, I think that'll be good enough for me to play," Fields said. The 23-year-old got in some practice work on Wednesday, but he's dealing with a separated left shoulder and partially torn ligaments, so it's a pretty serious injury, even if it's to his non-throwing shoulder. Fields says he feels pain every time he throws. Fantasy managers that have been riding the up-and-coming dual-threat QB need to have a backup plan at the QB position this week.

Justin Fields Dealing With A Separated Shoulder

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) is dealing with a separated shoulder and a partially torn ligament. The second-year quarterback suffered the injury last week against the Atlanta Falcons but finished the game. While the injury sounds painful, Fields could play against the New York Jets this week. The former Ohio State quarterback has been a fantasy cheat code over the past six weeks, averaging 28.8 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, he has averaged 106.7 rushing yards per game during that span, totaling at least 60 yards in every contest. Trevor Siemian would get the start if Fields can't go on Sunday. However, fantasy players should not consider Siemian a suitable replacement for the young star quarterback.

Justin Fields Day-To-Day, Will Practice Wednesday

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said that quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) is day-to-day and his status going into the Week 12 game against the New York Jets on Sunday is undetermined. However, Fields has been cleared to practice on Wednesday, and the Bears aren't considering putting him on Injured Reserve after he suffered a left shoulder injury in Week 11 against the Atlanta Falcons. The 23-year-old will be listed as limited on Wednesday for their walk-through, but it's a good sign for his availability this weekend. If for some reason Fields isn't cleared to play, Trevor Siemian would get the start under center for the Bears. As things stand now, Fields is on the right side of questionable for Week 12, and he'll be a must-start QB1 if he's active, despite the tough matchup against the Jets defense.

Justin Fields Dislocated Shoulder, Remains Day-To-Day

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields suffered a shoulder dislocation during Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons, head coach Matt Eberflus told the media. The injury is painful and Fields will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis, though Eberflus would not rule out the possibility of the quarterback's season being over. He has looked fantastic as of late, ranking as the QB1 while accumulating 193.54 fantasy points from Weeks 5 to 11. If Fields does have to miss time, Trevor Siemian would take over as Chicago's quarterback.

Justin Fields Evaluated For Shoulder Injury

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fielder (shoulder) was carted to the locker room for further evaluation and testing following Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The mobile quarterback certainly didn't look 100 percent in the second half. He was seen clutching his shoulder and wincing in pain throughout the contest. When all was said and done, Fields finished with 14 completions for 153 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also rushed a whopping 18 times for 85 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Between his four sacks and staggering number of rushes, Fields clearly put his body on the line during Sunday's game. Fantasy managers should be on the lookout for an injury update later Sunday evening.

Justin Fields Dazzles Again In Loss

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields completed 12-of-20 passes for 167 yards with two passing touchdowns, one interception, one rushing touchdown and a team-high 147 rushing yards in the Bears Week 10 loss to the Lions. Fields continues to tear through the NFL and set another NFL record with 549 rushing yards over his last five games as a passer. Fields made plays all over the field and showed off his dynamic elusiveness but a second-half interception, that turned into a touchdown, changed the tenor of the game. Fields has cemented himself as, at the very least, a top-10 fantasy quarterback play moving forward.

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields played his best game of the season, completing 13-of-21 passes for 179 yards, one passing touchdown, 82 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown in the Bears win over the Patriots. Fields was explosive throughout this 33-14 dominating victory and the second-year passer gashed the Patriots consistently with his legs and deadly arm. Justin Fields Aggravates Shoulder Injury Thursday Night

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (shoulder) indicated that he re-aggravated an injury to his left non-throwing shoulder. "I'm hurting. Hurting pretty good," Fields said. "Got a long weekend, so I'll have some extra time to heal up." The 23-year-old specified it was a pre-existing injury to his left shoulder. He will have some extra time to recover as the Bears' next game is not until October 24th against the New England Patriots. The former first-round pick completed 14-of-27 passes for 190 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and 88 rushing yards in Thursday's loss to the Commanders. Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields completed 14-of-27 passes for 190 yards, one touchdown, one interception and 88 rushing yards in the team's crushing 12-7 loss to the Commanders. Fields was hit early and often but was able to make plays with his fantastic escapability. The second-year quarterback tossed a beautiful 40-yard touchdown to Dante Pettis but also missed some easy throws, several in the red zone. Fields and the Bears offense ranks at the bottom in most passing categories and Fields' fantasy value rests in his legs more than his arm moving forward.
