No Surgery Needed For Pat Freiermuth

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (knee) suffered a left knee sprain in the Week 18 win over the Cleveland Browns, but he won't require surgery. Freiermuth was quickly ruled out, but he should be fine for next season after the Steelers were eliminated from postseason contention when the Miami Dolphins beat the New York Jets. There's a chance that the 24-year-old won't be ready for offseason workouts in the spring, but as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he should be good to go for training camp in the summer. In his second NFL season, Freiermuth had 63 receptions on 98 targets for 732 yards and two touchdowns. He bested his rookie marks in catches and receiving yards, but his TD production was a disappointment after he found the end zone seven times in his rookie season.

Pat Freiermuth Done For Week 18

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (knee) exited Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns and was quickly ruled out. He finishes the day with zero catches on two targets. Connor Heyward and Zach Gentry should see more snaps at tight end in Freiermuth's absence.

    Pat Freiermuth Absent Again Thursday

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (foot) missed a second straight day of practice this week on Thursday. Despite missing practice on Wednesday, Freiermuth said that he still expected to play in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers. However, with two DNPs now under his belt, his status is certainly worth watching this weekend. Freiermuth has been a must-start TE1 in fantasy this year when healthy, as he comes into Week 15 as the TE5 in half-point PPR scoring with 53 receptions, 630 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. He caught three of his six targets for 33 yards and his second TD of the year in the Week 14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. If he ends up not playing, Zach Gentry would be afforded more playing time as Pittsburgh's No. 1 tight end.

Pat Freiermuth Expects To Play Against Panthers

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (foot) said that he hurt his foot on his first catch in the Week 14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday when he got rolled up on. Freiermuth didn't practice on Wednesday, but he expects to be able to play on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers in Week 15. The 24-year-old caught three of his six targets for 33 yards and his second touchdown of the season last week while injured. Freiermuth checks in as the TE5 on the year in half-point PPR setups with 53 catches on 82 targets for 630 yards and two touchdowns. Both of his touchdown catches in 2022 have been thrown by quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who could make the start against the Panthers on Sunday if rookie Kenny Pickett can't clear the concussion protocol.

Pat Freiermuth A Full-Go On Thursday

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (ankle) practiced in full on Thursday after he was limited on Wednesday. Freiermuth missed Week 6 due to a concussion but returned in last week's loss to the Miami Dolphins with eight catches for a team-high 75 yards. Barring a setback on Friday, the second-year tight end should be good to go for this weekend's meeting with the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles. In a game in which the Steelers will probably be throwing a lot, Freiermuth is a solid TE1 choice for fantasy managers. In his six games so far in 2022, Freiermuth has 28 catches on 41 targets for 310 yards and one touchdown for the Steelers.

    Pat Freiermuth Limited Wednesday

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday. After missing Week 6 due to a concussion, the 24-year-old returned to action last Sunday night against the Miami Dolphins. He caught eight of his nine targets for 75 yards in the Week 7 loss. Freiermuth was limited with an ankle issue but should be available for Sunday's contest against Philadelphia Eagles. Freiermuth is a borderline TE1 against an Eagles defense that ranks 11 in DVOA against opposing tight ends this season.

Pat Freiermuth Will Return On Sunday Night

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (concussion) will play on Sunday versus the Dolphins. The 23-year-old didn't suit up in Week 6 due to a concussion. However, he practiced in full all week, erasing all doubt regarding his availability. Freiermuth has been a hit-or-miss fantasy option this season and has 20 catches for 235 yards and a touchdown. Fantasy managers should expect the worst and hope for the best.

Pat Freiermuth Practices In Full Wednesday

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (concussion) was able to practice in full on Wednesday after he missed the Week 6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It means that barring a setback, he should be able to gain clearance to return in Week 7 on Sunday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins. Freiermuth caught both of his targets for just 12 yards before suffering his concussion in Week 5. After an impressive rookie campaign in 2021, the second-year tight end has 20 catches on 32 targets for 235 yards and one touchdown in his five games so far this year. If he gets the green light to play against Miami, Freiermuth will profile as a high-end, touchdown-dependent TE2 for fantasy managers.

Pat Freiermuth Expected To Be Cleared For Week 7

The expectation is that Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (concussion) will be cleared to play in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night. Steelers.com's Dale Lolley reports that head coach Mike Tomlin said Freiermuth is scheduled to return to practice on Wednesday after sitting out the Week 6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his absence last Sunday, Zach Gentry caught his only target for just four yards. Before getting injured in Week 5, Freiermuth caught seven of nine targets for a season-high 85 yards in Week 4 against the New York Jets. The second-year tight end will be on the TE1/2 borderline if he returns to action in Week 7 against the Dolphins.

Pat Freiermuth To Miss Week 6

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth will miss the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he suffered a concussion in the loss to the Buffalo Bills last week. This should open up more targets for Chase Claypool, Dionte Johnson, and George Pickens, but Zach Gentry could be a factor, too. Ultimately, the Buccaneers' front seven will likely terrorize rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett, so all Steelers' pass-catchers carry plenty of risk into this game.

    Pat Freiermuth Limited Again Thursday

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (concussion) was limited in practice for the second straight day this week on Thursday, but he remains in the league's concussion protocol after suffering a head injury in the Week 5 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The 23-year-old has already suffered multiple concussions in his two years in the NFL, so he's by no means a lock to make it back in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If he isn't cleared by Sunday's game, Zach Gentry and Connor Heyward would split repetitions at tight end for Pittsburgh. Fantasy managers that have been using Freiermuth as their starting tight end through five weeks should look in another direction this week. He has 20 catches on 32 targets for 235 yards and five touchdowns to this point.

Pat Freiermuth Sidelined In Wednesday's Practice

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (concussion) was unable to practice on Wednesday ahead of a Week 6 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 23-year-old suffered a concussion in Week 5, his third in the past 12 months. Fantasy managers should monitor the situation to see if Freiermuth can clear the NFL's concussion protocol this week, but it seems like a long shot for him to play, especially given his history. With Zach Gentry (knee) also missing practice, rookie tight end Connor Heyward could be in line for an expanded role on Sunday.

    Pat Freiermuth Listed As Non-Participant

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (concussion) was listed as a non-participant in practice on Wednesday. In addition to Freiermuth, Zach Gentry (knee) also missed practice, so the Steelers are hurting at the position heading into Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If both Freiermuth and Gentry are unable to play this weekend, Connor Heyward would be the Steelers' top pass-catching tight end. Before leaving last week's loss to the Buffalo Bills, Freiermuth caught both of his targets for 12 yards. Fantasy managers should consider him very questionable to play this Sunday, and if you've been rolling with him as your starting TE, you need to be looking for backup options in Week 6.

Pat Freiermuth Ruled Out With Concussion

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (concussion) has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 5 versus the Buffalo Bills. He finished the day with just two catches for 12 yards. The 23-year-old will have one week to get healthy before next Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his absence, Zach Gentry and Connor Heyward should see more snaps.
