The Arizona Cardinals have signed kicker Matt Ammendola to their practice squad as some insurance with Matt Prater (hip) dealing with a hip injury that caused him to leave Week 4 prematurely. Ammendola was recently released by the Chiefs after he filled in for Harrison Butker (ankle) for two games, making three of four field goals and three of four extra-point attempts. The 25-year-old would be nothing more than a risky streaming option if he is to end up starting in Week 5 against the Eagles.

Matt Ammendola Signs With Chiefs Practice Squad
The Kansas City Chiefs signed former New York Jets kicker Matt Ammendola to their practice squad on Monday. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker injured his ankle during a Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals and his status is questionable for Week 2's Thursday night game against the Los Angeles Chargers. If Butker isn't ready to kick, Ammendola will be the team's kicker when they take on their division rivals. Fantasy managers rostering Butker will want to have an alternate option at the kicker position in case he can't go.

Matt Ammendola Cut Loose By Texans
Houston Texans kicker Matt Ammendola was waived by the team on Saturday, according to DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com. He was signed on Thursday because Ka'imi Fairbairn is dealing with a minor injury. Ammendola played in Friday's preseason game, hitting both of his extra points as well as a 45-yard field goal. However, he missed a 31-yard field-goal attempt in the process. Presumably, Ammendola's release means Fairbairn will be ready for Week 1, though it's possible that Houston has its eye on a different free agent kicker.
